Miss Mao

''Miss Mao''

Color Pencil On Pastel Paper

Recently started on more tongue-in-cheek artworks... One of them was a work I entitled 'Miss Mao' where I turned Mao Tze Dong into a cutie..Okay, not really.. but I tried.. Anyway I'm really interested in the realm of nonsense and I would really like to experiment with such subject matters.. I just feel like pop culture icons have just been so overused and turned into jokes now.and all we can do now is exploit that fact.. Although some of my friends criticized me for for being too offensive but I'm like..seriously? it's 2013, take a joke...And strangely I'm actually willing to go to jail for my art if I begin on touchy subjects like political art..and what's even weirder is that I actually WANT to experience jail...Okay I'm really weird..
Yup , that's about it...National Service countdown... 5 more days!

Art Booth!

Hey there everyone! Me and two other of my really good friends (Nat & Mabel) set-up an Art Booth at Yew Tee (the ghettos lol) around 2 weeks ago and planned to sell our artworks. We were so enthusiastic we got up early eventhough the Art Fair started at 5pm. We were already meeting at 10am... Anyway it was freaking hot and we checked out our competition and we even GOOGLED their names since their names were on the booths.. Anyway, we started panicking and when the Art Fair started, we were not making ANY business at all! Everyone treated our booth like a free museum and they just came, stared, maybe comment 'very nice' and just leave, without buying any of our works.. and then, Mabel started doing speed portraits of people and charged $10 per portrait which took around 15mins per portrait..and OMG, the queue was never ending an in a few hours we earned over $100! It was crazy... Yea.. I really gotta learn how to do speed portraits...

Anyway, here is a speed portrait Mabel did of me which we put on display to attract customers...
IT WAS SOOO AWKWARD FOR ME.. People kept giving me double takes and kept looking at the drawing and then looking back at me like literally analyzing my face.. I felt so weird.. Yea..
Our Art Booth..

Okay see you guys!
