Off to New Zealand

I'm flying off to New Zealand today! But somehow, I don't feel excited...Probably it was because I didn't even want to go in the first place but I felt bad that my friend signed up because of me and she got mad so I gave in.I'm trying to look on the bright side but I don't even have any male friends that are going and since the rooms are gender separated, it'll be awkward to room with someone you just met.I just hope I don't sleepwalk or get nightmares which I usually do...And hope I can wake up at 6 in the morning...Well, I can't wait to take beautiful pictures of the country!!!

Amanda Heng Exhibition at Singapore Art Museum

Today our art teacher took us to the Singapore Art Museum to view the artworks by Amanda heng, a Singaporean artist, who would be in our syllabus next year. She is really amazing and her works reflects on the feminism movement.

                                                               Me & Davin

Amanda heng's Art on Feminism. The words on the table cloth shows the emotions of the women and the food was an essential household item which women used in the past.

She relates with her mom by taking off their clothes

This was my favourite part of the exhibition. It was really creepy because of all the girls clothes. It was actually to show the number of female lives taken away back olden day China as females were considered inferior and were aborted once the pregnant women found out about the gender of their child. The clothes represent the lives.

Peeling Beansprout : A traditional way of gathering between women to discuss daily lives

Here is a diferent exhibition altogether. It's even more amazing as the artist, Hyung Koo Kung, a korean artist who paints photorealistic portraits of either himself or celebrities. It's really fascinating...

Photoshoot at Botanic Gardens

Okay, this time it isn't me who was shooting Natalie... It was some dude who booked Natalie online at modelmayhem.com. Apparently they liked her looked..Which of course was obvious...Anyway she asked me to chaperone her in case that guy was a creep and so I did. When we got off at Botanic Gardens MRT, we realised that the place we were supposed to meet the photographer was at the other end of the park. So we had to take a 30min walk from one end of the park to the other!! It was soooo tiring. But the good thing I got out of it was that I was able to see the beautiful scenic views of the park and I had my own personal photography session with my iPhone! =/ I know it's amateur but I didn't bring my DSLR on that trip. Anyway take a look at the beauty of Botanic Gardens...Me and Nat :

Beautiful Trail...

Bamboos...

Gorgeous Wooden Carvings!

This was my favourite picture. it was the sillouette of branches of a tree...

Overall it was really an amazing experience and a contrast to the shopping I used to do every other weekend. But on that day, sightseeing was better than shopping. And I wouldn't mind doing it again...
