Taking a break from blogging

After this last post I'm planning to go full force for art and my A levels and take a break from blogging. Today I was inspired by this amazing 'Extreme Beauty' art exhibition in which my art teacher was performing a performance art piece and it was amazing. Some of the people from our art class ; Joy, Mabel, Davin and Elizabeth decided to support out art teacher, Mrs Tay. The exhibition was a social commentary of the pursuit of beauty and showcases it in a negative light. The whole exhibition showed me that if I want to pursue a true art work, I'll have to work hard for it and give it my all. Thus I'm planning to go and mug for my exams and not let the computer destroy my life . So I'm gonna take a break from blogging. Maybe a few months or so to get my life back on track after my devastating term exams. Afterall, that's why I'm in college. You can check out snapshots of my teacher's art performance. It's basically showing how women are obssessed with beauty . She basically walked around with thick amounts of makeup and lipstick and went up to random people to kiss tissue papers and gave the tissue to the random person and soaked herself in a plastic box with styrofoam balls and submerged herself and basically kissed the box. I'm not sure how you'll interpret it but it's about women's pursuit of beauty.

OH! AND ONE THING I SAW AT THE EXHIBITION WERE PEOPLE WHO DARED TO BE DIFFERENT! Guys with leopard printed pants, Dr Martens, hair slicked back in a bun with drapery and creative styles and everyone with striking hair colour like pink/purple/red!. Seriously I felt like I was with my people even though I was wearing the school uniform to the exhibiton ( We had to rush down from school ) but the people there seriously dressed AMAZING. Some of the guys had scarves, many wore capes, drapery, wore vintage spectacles. I really admired their courage to dress themselves and not be afraid of whop judges them or stereotype them. I was really 'starstruck'. People who dared to be bold and here I was, sometimes afraid of wearing my favourite pair of shoes on the train because I was afraid of stares. Fuck that, from now on I'm going to dress how I want to dress and if people want to stare and give me googly eyes, I'm gonna stare right back and SMILE. I realised from the exhibition that true beauty is to be yourself and not even society should be able to change that. Take constructive criticisms as advice NOT rules, and take insults as compliments that we can be ourselves while others are not. This exhibition really opened my eyes up to A LOT of things. Probably because I've been confined in a heartland college for more than a year, and in a stringent society such as Singapore that I don't even dare to be myself. I'm truly inspired by the attendees of the exhibition and I'm really thankful to have gone to the exhibiton and I couldn't believe I even contemplated staying at home to sleep.. From now on I am going to be myself, whether at school or in public and the rules are mine to make.

I hope by the time I write my next post, I'll have more courage to be myself...

A Fashionista.

I hope to write again soon...
But for now...
Back to the real world.

EDIT : Okay maybe I won't take  break from blogging afterall. I really cannot do without it. But I guess I'll be blogging lesser and mopst probably during the weekends...

Bad Day Again

Had another bad day today... My day began with an attire check and I got caught for a long fringe and by long, I mean barely touching my eyebrows. I really hate the Singapore disciplinary system and even more so in my school. They are so strict about everything even the colour of the shoes and the tapering of pants.. Basically what they want us to look like is a boring, plain people(Not individuals) who conform to the 'standards'. Bullshit. No wonder Singapore is seriously lacking in innovation. I really feel the fashion sense in Singapore is EXTREMELY PATHETIC. Walking around you don't see any colourful outfits or interesting designs. All just plain tee with jeans and if you dress any differently, you'll be judged and stereotyped. Trust me, i always get that on the train. The school keeps claiming that we are here just to get our educational certificate and not to be fashionable but if that's the case, why would they bother about our attire and waste lesson time just to do an attire check... It's as if the school wants us all to be boring and conformist. But no matter how many times they are Able to catch me for my hair, fabulous vintage shoes or my fitted tapered pants, I'll never change it because I ain't no conformist.

Moving on, my results were really pathetic . I basically failed all subjects badly and im really depressed right now. Although the results were really expected, I can't help but feel sad. I really have to work hard for my next exams...

Examination Results... Depressing

Today I've been getting back results after results and disappointment after disappointment. I've basically failed my general paper (English) and my math badly and I barely passed my art (the subject which I was hoping to do well)... So today was basically a sad day. And today my results were good and bad... It was so weird... I got extremely high for one paper (19/25) and for the other paper I got 4/25. And I was praised and scolded by the same time which was a weird feeling but I was more happy than disappointed because at least I know what to do to improve for my literature now. Anyway after art lesson the whole art class left to visit the Andy Warhol Exhibition and Titanic Exhibition at the Art Science Museum at Marina Bay Sands and it was really fun! The highlight of my day. And I even found out they made Seventeen Magazine back then! Check it out

Hope my days get better...

I hate my literature teacher

Here I am on the bus bored again from a bad day and decided to write a rant post. So the beginning of the day started with literature lesson with a teacher I already didn't like and I only had 2 hours of sleep, so you can see where this is going...His poor fashion sense with his greasy messed up hair and his whole look was already enough to tick me off. Not to mention his laziness. So anyway he was scolding the class for the poor performance during out term papers and asked what went wrong but no one replied him. He then asked how he could help us and what we wanted him to do during the entirety of the 1hr30min lesson( which he as a teacher should have already planned... Frankly he hasn't taught us much since the beginning of the year) Once again , no one replied him and he started getting angry and shouted 'how am I supposed to help you guys if you don't tell me what you want!?'. So I decided to step up and asked him if he could teach us the techniques for poetry to which he replied 'I can but I don't want to because that's not what went wrong in the exam' Then I was like okay... Then I asked if he could evaluate the poems for us and he was like ' I can, but can you keep up?' so I replied 'Yes' confidently and he asked 'you sure?' and I said 'Yes' again. So he began teaching and I was like 'Thank god I spoke up if not it would have been and awkward lesson'

AND THEN... when people from our class didn't understand what he was saying he started pointing to me and said 'ASK HIM, HE KNOWS EVERYTHING' .

OMG I WAS LIKE 'WHAT!?'

and when I gave an answer he laughed and said 'Your highest education level is O levels and you can to keep up with a master's degree?' SO RUDE!!! And he went on to say that my tone at the beginning was arrogant and I shouldn't be so proud. WHAT!? He then proceeded to do a parody of an arrogant student using a dumb voice 'Im so f**king pro I don't have to listen to the teacher' Is there a need to curse!? Anyway at the end of the lesson I approached him and told him I didn't mean to come off as arrogant and he was like ' I know, but watch your tone'

IF YOU KNEW , WHY DID YOU HAVE TO EMBARRASS ME INFRONT OF EVERYONE!? This is why students don't want to answer your questions STUPID ASSHOLE. He is officially the worst and laziest teacher I have ever met.Even the sight of him makes me so mad.

This is exactly why i'd rather take the backseat in class, relax and not answer questions than to deal with lame add bullshit.. Stupid teacher

Train nightmare

Oh my gosh I almost fainted in the train the other day. This is why I hate taking the MRT (Singapore's subway system) it's because when I take the train, it's a guaranteed I will be forced to stand. But I decided to take the 1 hour long ride from the West to the central area because my friends were going there too. Anyway, halfway through the ride I felt motion sickness coming along and felt nauseatic. But I told myself I could press on and suffer through the ridd but then I started sweating and my vision was all sparkly and white. I panicked and was contemplating getting off at the current stop to rest but I decided to ask someone for a seat and quickly sat down.I felt so relieved that the nausea gradually went away.. Ironically , it was this motion sickness which killed time because before I knee it, I was already at my station because I was so distracted by my sickness. I'm gonna think twice the next time I take the train...

New Spectacles!

I am so happy! Two days ago I was researching on vintage spectacle stores in Singapore ( Because all the modern eyewear outlets don’t offer retro/vintage designs) and I found out there’s a store which sells vintage spectacles down the road of my house! It’ scalled Lim Kay Khee Eyewear and it was sooo amazing. They were even in the newspapers! The store was already freaking vintage to begin with. The tables were all wooden, the workers there were all family and they claimed that all the old designs were authentic vintage and were leftover stock from the 60s and 70s! So lucky! But the authentic vintage were really expensive like over 200 so I decided to get a plastic + metal frame. I think it’s called the browline spectacles. When I got my eye checked, it was such a contrast to previous eye checks. Their seats were metal with leather cushioning, the alphabets on the screen was on an old light box and the lady used a long wooden ruler to point out the letters! In the past few years, it’s been laser pointer and projector to test my eyesight! SOoo vintage.
My glasses were actually sunglasses but I asked the lady if I could replace the black lens with clear lens and they said can! =D
Anyway check it out!
